<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved smoke evacuator for laparoscopic procedures having adjustable accurate flow rate and a solenoid valve opened only when the smoke evacuator is actuated. <P>SOLUTION: An automatic smoke evacuation and insufflation system 10 for surgical procedures includes a vacuum pump 50 for removing gas, smoke, and debris from a surgical site of a patient and an insufflator for supplying gas to the body cavity of the patient. The automatic smoke evacuation and insufflation system 10 have a pressure sensor 74 for monitoring an abdominal pressure. When the abdominal pressure exceeds a level that is selected in advance, the smoke evacuator is automatically turned on, thereby decreasing the pressure to a safe level. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
