<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording and reproducing device capable of optimizing recording and reproduction depending even upon a peripheral direction without any large resource addition as compared with conventional optimization. <P>SOLUTION: Optimization depending upon only a radial direction is carried out. In a plurality of radii, track mean writing performance is measured when heater power is displaced from optimized heater power. From Fig. 2, a gradient Δf/Δp of an overwrite (f) to heater power (p) in writing is derived for each radius, a fitting coefficient of a first group when the gradient Δf/Δp is approximated as a polynomial is found. Then peripheral dependence of the overwrite is acquired using a conventional optimization condition is acquired in a plurality of radii, and fitting is performed with a period function regarding one rotation as a period. A fitting coefficient of a second group when the fitting coefficient is approximated with the polynomial is found. The heater power p(r, j) is corrected using a variation rate calculated from the fitting coefficients of the first and second groups, and a local writing performance function. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
