PURPOSE: A backlight device and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to minimize light energy which is lost while the light passes through LEDs which face each other. CONSTITUTION: A light guide plate(110) guides light. A light source provides light to the light guide plate. A reflective layer(130) is formed on a side of the light guide plate to reflect light incident into the light guide plate. The reflective layer performs one or two of specular reflection and lambertian reflection. The reflective layer is formed on the entire side except a side to which the light is incident.
