Clad rods 11a e.g. aluminium cladding and a ferrous core, are drawn through rolls 13 by a capstan, and fins 17 produced during the rolling are removed by a shaving head 18, the rod being guided by a roller guide 20. Rolls 13 have vees 16a which produce a thickened base 17a on fins 17. Shaving head 18 comprises a bracket 23 fixed to the machine 10, a plate 26 fixed to the bracket, a tool holder bolted to plate 26, at 31, and adjustable relative thereto by screws 29, slides 37 radially adjustable by screws 35, and shaving cutters 44 clamped to slides 37. |
