A security document having a sleeve (6) and a data page (8), the data page (8) comprising a data page material layer (81), the sleeve (6) comprising a first layer (11) comprising a first material, a second layer (12) comprising a second material, and a third layer (13) comprising a third material film, the first layer (11), the second layer (12) and the third layer (13) being laminated together such that the second layer (12) is interposed between the first layer (11) and the third layer (13), and the third layer (13) of the sleeve (6) being attached to the data page (8) such that the third material film of the third layer (13) is situated against the data page material layer (81) of the data page (8). A joint between the sleeve (6) and the data page (8) is a thermal joint provided by a thermal joining process, and both the third material of the third layer (13) and the data page material of the data page material layer (81) is polycarbonate. |
