The knuckle has inner and outer metallic rings (3, 7) respectively provided on an external spherical surface (3B) and an internal spherical surface (7B). A contact layer (4) is formed on the spherical surface of the inner ring, and another contact layer (8) is formed on the spherical surface of the outer ring. The contact layer (4) has hardness lower than the hardness of the contact layer (8) and thickness greater than the thickness of the contact layer (8), where the contact layer (4) releases solid lubricant particles (42) by friction with the contact layer (8). An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a light weight articulation knuckle. |
