PURPOSE: A chitin ester derivative and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to be economical and to mass produce the chitin ester derivative. CONSTITUTION: A manufacturing method of hitin ester derivative comprises the following step: reacting chitin with catalust and a cycloalkyl carboxylic acid solution. The catalyst is trifluoro- acetic anhydride and phosphoric acid. The carboxylic acid is benzoic acid, 4-methoxy benzoic acid, halogen benzoic acid, alkyl C1-C6 benzoic acid, or butyric acid. The chitin ester derivative is represented by chemical formula 1. Here, R indicates phenyl, 4-methoxy phenl, halogenphenyl, alkylphenyl or propyl.
