A computer system comprises means for providing a first application, having an associated user interface, and a second application; where inputs detected by the first application as being associated with the second application are forwarded to that application for processing there. In this way, a user may utilize the user interface of the first application to perform, or incorporate, the functions of the second. The system is particularly embodied in a learner response system comprising a computer system and a plurality of user terminals, where the first application is a presentation application for displaying a set of questions, and the second a learner-response application. This arrangement allows a user who has limited knowledge of the learner-response application to fully utilize its functionality through the presentation application, with which they are familiar.
