A stand 1 for a handheld electronic device such as, for example, a smart phone or a computing tablet. The stand 1 comprises a body 3 having a recess 5 dimensioned to receive the handheld electronic device, a viewing aperture 7 that provides access to the recess for insertion and removal and operation/interaction of the handheld electronic device and enables the screen of the device to he viewed. A padding part 9 surrounding the recess and defining the viewing aperture 7, and a beanbag-like ballast 11 part extending rearward of the recess. The ballast part 11 comprises a flexible sack containing pellets which is pliable and conformable to the surface upon which the stand is mounted. Preferably a pair of through holes 17 are provided, each of which has an eyelet with a resiliently deformable flap 25 that is operable to hold the handheld electronic device in the recess 5. |
