<p>Combination of cannabidiol (CBD) with therapeutic hypothermia for use in the treatment of neuroprotection or astroprotection is provided. Preferably the neuroprotection or astroprotection to be treated is hypoxic ischemia, preferably, hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE), in particular newborn hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (NHIE), stroke or cardiac arrest. The CBD may be in the form of a plant extract, isolated or pure form. The combination treatment of cannabidiol and therapeutic hypothermia may additionally include further treatments that are useful in neuroprotection including: xenon, N-acetylcysteine, erythropoietin and melatonin.</p> |
