The device (1) has a continuously driven discharge device (5) for an empty carrier tape (3). A drivable winding mandrel (7) is arranged downstream to the discharge device and the empty carrier tape is wound on the mandrel and then is removed from the mandrel. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a labeling machine with a labeling device; and (2) a method for operating a labeling machine.
