A process for the preparation of substituted 4-benzyl pyrroles involves interaction of α-haloaldehydes with 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds and ammonia or amines in alcohol water mixture at room temperature. 3-Aryl-2-propanoles are used as α-haloaldehydes, and prepared are pyrroles of general formula,wherein R, R=H, Alk, Cl, CF; R=Alk, Oalk; R=Alk, Ar, Het; R=H, Alk, Ar. |
