A tread for a vehicle tire having a circumferential center tread region (14) comprising a plurality of block elements (26, 28) arranged in a pattern on opposite sides of a tire circumferential equatorial center plane (20) is disclosed. Block elements (38) on opposite sides of the center plane (20) comprise a plurality of circumferentially spaced apart and laterally extending sipes (42, 44) extending across the block element (38) and at least essentially circumferentially oriented notches (36, 46), each notch (36, 46) interconnecting an adjacent pair of sipes (42, 44). Also a tire comprising such a tread is disclosed. |
