APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR TRANSMITTING AND RECEIVING POSITIONING REFERENCE SIGNAL IN HETEROGENEOUS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

PURPOSE: An apparatus for transmitting and receiving a position reference signal in a heterogeneous communication system and a method thereof are provided to improve accuracy for terminal position measurement by minimizing an interference influence between base stations in the heterogeneous communication system. CONSTITUTION: A macro cell or a pico cell generates a unique PRS(Position Reference Signal) sequence of a cell from a communication system having one ore more macro cells or one or more pico cells included in the macro cell(S1010). The generated PRS sequence is allocated to or mapped in a time-frequency resource space by using PRS transferred information. The macro cell or the pico cell allocates or maps the PRS sequence or/in the time-frequency resource space in order not to be overlapped with the PRS allocation resource space of the corresponding pico cell or macro cell(S1020). An OFDM signal including PRS sequence allocated or mapped is generated(S1030). The generated OFDM signal is transmitted(S1040).
