PURPOSE: A transformant with improved bioethanol productivity and a method for producing ethanol using the same are provided to block glycerol producing gene and to obtain a large amount of ethanol. CONSTITUTION: An expression vector pGcyaDakAdhPdc contains a gene encoding Saccharomyces cerevisiae pyruvate decarboxylase and a gene encoding alcohol dehydrogenase. The pyruvate decarboxylase has an amino acid sequence of sequence number 1. The pyruvate decarboxylase has a base sequence of sequence number 2. The alcohol dehydrogenase has an amino acid sequence of sequence number 3 and has a base of sequence number 4. A transformant prepared by the expression vector is Saccharomyces cerevisiae. A composition for producing ethanol contains the transformant.
