摘要 A catalyst for producing a bisphenol compound, composed of gel catalyst beads formed by introducing strongly acidic group such as sulfonic acid group into gel beads obtained by the copolymerization of a styrene-based monomer and a crosslinking monomer, wherein 50% or more of the gel catalyst beads have particle diameters of 30 to 650 µm, and a method for producing a bisphenol compound by the reaction of a phenol compound and a carbonyl compound in the presence of the catalyst. The present invention provides a strongly acidic cation exchange resin catalyst for producing a bisphenol compound, exhibiting high raw-material conversion rate and high bisphenol-compound selectivity, having a long catalyst life span, and reducing pressure loss in a catalyst filled layer, and a method for producing a bisphenol compound at high conversion rate and high selectivity stably and efficiently for a long time by using the catalyst.
