FIELD: chemistry. ^ SUBSTANCE: described is a method of producing high-impact polystyrene, involving: 1) feeding a styrene monomer, polymer rubber and a graft promoter into a pre-inversion reactor, and polymerising the styrene monomer to obtain polystyrene, wherein polymerisation is carried out until conversion of 70-100% of the initial phase inversion point of the formed styrene/polystyrene/polymer rubber mixture; 2) dividing the formed styrene/polystyrene/polymer rubber mixture to obtain a first stream containing 70-95 wt % of the formed mixture and a second stream containing the rest of the formed mixture; 3) feeding the first stream into a second reactor in which further polymerisation of styrene takes place, which causes phase inversion in the first stream, where styrene conversion is more than 20% higher than the final phase inversion point; 4) mixing the phase-inverted first stream obtained at step (3) with the second stream obtained at step (2) while mixing at a rate of 5-30 s-1 in a static flow mixer in order to facilitate second phase-inversion and obtain high-impact polystyrene with bimodal distribution of rubber particles. ^ EFFECT: obtaining high-impact polystyrene with bimodal distribution of rubber particles. ^ 3 cl |
