FIELD: electricity. ^ SUBSTANCE: four-pulse converter may operate in two modes: that of a rectifier and that of an inverter. Operation in the uncontrolled rectifier mode during usage as semiconductor diode chokes proceeds as follows: two chokes always operate: one of the two chokes of the cathode group (the one having the largest anode potential) and one of the two chokes of the anode group (the one having the least cathode potential). That is why the mean value of current flowing through the choke is equal to 1/2 of the mean value of load current. During a period each choke is activated once. Two chokes operate simultaneously (one from the anode group and the other - from the cathode group). Mean value of choke direct current as well as loss of voltage and power in the choke are similar to those observed with the prototype. ^ EFFECT: reduction of rectified voltage pulsations and uniform distribution of single-phase load between the supply mains phases. ^ 2 dwg
