The method involves broadcasting a set of programs on a local area network, where the programs include program elements (44, 45). Program correspondence indicating tables (42, 43) are generated and broadcasted on the local area network, where each of the tables is used for a TV station and includes a pointer toward one of the elements only if a user of the station, to which the table is specified, is authorized to access the programs. The TV station is configured in advance for recognizing the tables, which are specified, and for ignoring the tables that are not specified. An independent claim is also included for a central system for accessing a set of programs from TV stations located in a decentralized site via a local area network.
