PURPOSE: A device and a method of inspecting appearance of a pack is provided to automatically detects the appearance of a pack(especially size, thickness, etc). CONSTITUTION: A device of inspecting appearance of a pack comprises: a camera part(111) for scanning the appearance of an inspecting object battery pack; a illumination part(112) for light-irradiating the battery pack; and an external appearance examination part(113) extracting size information of examination clauses from an scanned external appearance image, and deciding success or failure by comparing the size information with reference value, which is saved by being pre-measured from a successive battery pack. The reference value is a minimum/maximum value of multiplied value of pixel number and pixel resolution between two points, which are pre-detected by a boundary line detection method, from the successive battery pack.
