<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a butt welding method which causes no welding defect regardless of the irregularity of end face (cutting cross section) of a material to be butted. <P>SOLUTION: The facing end faces 10A and 12A of plate materials 10 and 12 to be butt-welded are formed to be inclined surfaces with an inclination angle of α against the vertical face, and while the materials are kept to be butted to each other at the facing end faces, laser beam a is given from the substantially vertical upper side to the material flat surface, through a laser welding nozzle 20. The materials to be butt-welded are the same in plate thickness, and the angle α of the inclined surface to the vertical direction satisfies a formula: tan-1(0.2/t)≤α≤20°, wherein t (mm) is a thickness of the material. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
