<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To overcome a problem occurring in a conventional formation step of a red color filter, namely, to provide a colored resin composition in which production of a crystalline foreign substance through heating is suppressed. <P>SOLUTION: A colored resin composition comprises a red organic pigment, a resin and a solvent. Absorbance of a diluted solution obtained by filtering a mixture of 1 pt.wt. of the pigment and 4000 pts.wt. of the solvent (measured with U-3300 spectrophotometer manufactured by Hitachi Ltd.) is 0.95 or less assuming that absorbance attained by using propylene glycol monomethyl ether acetate as a solvent is 1.0.
