NOVEL USE OF CD137 GENE

PURPOSE: A composition using CD137 gene is provided to reduce seizure symptom and to prevent apoptosis of nerve cells. CONSTITUTION: A composition for diagnosing brain diseases contains a probe or primer having complementary sequences to a nucleotide sequence of CD137 gene. The brain diseases include epilepsy, seize, Alzheimer's disease, or Parkinson's disease. A kit for diagnosing brain diseases contains the probe or primer. A microarray for diagnosing brain diseases contains the primer or probe. A method for screening a material for preventing or treating brain diseases comprises: a step of contacting a sample to cells containing CD137 genes or proteins; a step of measuring CD137 gene and protein expression level or CD137 protein activation level; and a step of determining the sample is a material for treating or preventing brain diseases in case that the CD137 gene and protein expression level or CD137 protein activation level is reduces.
