The rotor (1) has magnet holders (40) that are arranged between adjacent claw poles of the field cores (12,14) for receiving permanent magnets (15). The holders have a rectangular parallelepiped structure with side surface portions (44,46) orineted perpendicular to an outer peripheral portion (42), when the holders are inserted between the claw poles. An auxiliary portion (48) of holders is smaller than the peripheral portion, when the auxiliary portion is arranged between magnets and peripheral portion.
