The method involves determining distance (delta s) or time duration (delta t) up to a stop point by a satellite-based navigation system (4), where the stop point is estimated by a route target estimator. Power of an electrically operated heating device (1) is reduced by a control unit (5), the heating device is deactivated, and charging power of an electrical energy storage unit of a motor car is increased when the determined distance or the determined time duration reaches or falls below a defined distance (delta sth) or a defined time duration (delta tth). The stop point is formed as a target point such as travel home, workstation, highway restaurant and shopping center in a travel route. An independent claim is also included for a device for adjusting power of a heating device of a motor car.
