The battery cell has a housing (20) for retaining an electrode assembly (10) that comprises two electrodes (11, 12). A cover (30) closes an opening of the housing. A circuit formation unit forms an electrical short circuit between the electrodes and comprises a positive temperature coefficient (PTC) resistor element (41) that is arranged at a waveguide shim (42). A pressure-sensitive element (44) is electrically connected with one of the electrodes. The resistor element is horizontally displaced over the pressure-sensitive element.
