<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To read an image of a document by efficiently irradiating an irradiation object with light from a light source. <P>SOLUTION: In the image reading apparatus, an illumination section includes an LED unit 503 having a plurality of LEDs 501 mounted thereon, a cylindrical lens 507 having a curved surface having a curvature in a direction orthogonal to a main scanning direction, an elliptic diffusion plate 509, a light guide body 505 having a first light-emitting surface 411 and a second light-emitting surface 412, and a reflection mirror 541 which irradiates a document with light from the second light-emitting surface 412, the light from the LED unit 503 passes through the cylindrical lens 507 and the elliptic diffusion plate 509, is emitted from the first light-emitting surface 411 of the light guide body 505, and irradiates the document, or is emitted from the second light-emitting surface 412 of the light guide body 505, is reflected on the reflection mirror 541, and irradiates the document. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
