<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vibration type drive device increasing the contact area between a moving body and a vibrating body so as to reduce the contact surface pressure, and also capable of improving the durability by dispersing the contact surface pressure to all over the contact surface. <P>SOLUTION: A vibration type drive device comprises: a vibration part provided with an electrical-mechanical energy conversion element, which vibrates by an application of a drive voltage to the electrical-mechanical energy conversion element; and a driven part in friction contact with the vibration part through a contact part in such a manner that the driven part relatively shifts to the vibration part by the vibration of the vibration part. The contact part is supported by two supporting parts made of a material with a spring property, which project out from either one of the driven part and the vibration part to their other part.
