<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a die for molding a molten glass gob which is formed by covering a film excellent in heat resistance, wear resistance at high temperatures, lubricity, mold releasability, etc. <P>SOLUTION: This molding die is formed by covering a metal boride cermet sprayed film comprising 20-90 mass% of a metal boride and the rest of Ni or Ni-Cr alloy on the surface of a mold substrate directly or via an undercoat to a film thickness of 50-1,000 μm by various flame-spray methods. The surface of the molding die is surface finished to become a smooth surface with Ra of 2 μm or less and Rz of 4 μm or less.
