<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a release film which facilitates detection of failure during inspection, which suppresses dependency on a releasing speed to the minimum when the film is used for optical use, for example, a touch panel, a liquid crystal polarizing plate and a retardation plate, and which solves problems relating to productivity, cost or the like. <P>SOLUTION: The release polyester film for a polarizing plate comprises a polyester film having a silicone-based release layer containing a silicone resin having an alkenyl group and an alkyl group as functional groups, a low molecular weight silicone compound having a molecular weight of 1000 or less, and a platinum-based catalyst. The release layer shows a low-speed peeling force of 10 to 20 mN/cm in a 300 mm/min speed range, and a high-speed peeling force in a 10000 mm/min speed range as 2.5 times or less as the low-speed peeling force.
