POLARIZATION MULTIPLEXING OPTICAL MODULATOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarization multiplexing optical modulator capable of avoiding a complicated device by a control circuit and an increased cost dependent on a manufacturing method, and of realizing a polarization interleaved mechanism with low loss and high temperature stability.

SOLUTION: A polarization multiplexing optical modulator comprises: a polarization multiplexing optical modulator for applying polarization multiplexing to an optical modulation signal and outputting a polarization multiplexed signaling light; a first optical transmission path for transmitting the polarization multiplexed signaling light; a removable polarization interleaved mechanism having a function of varying an equivalent light path length for each polarized wave that is included in the polarization multiplexed signaling light output from the first light transmission path and of adjusting a propagation delay time difference between the polarized waves; and a second optical transmission path for transmitting the polarization multiplexed signaling light output from the polarization interleaved mechanism.
