<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote controller and a method for controlling the same which are capable of suppressing unnecessary power consumption. <P>SOLUTION: The remote controller comprises: a first operation key group; a first illumination unit for illuminating the first operation key group; a second operation key group arranged at a position different from that of the first operation key group; a second illumination unit for illuminating the second operation key group; a cover part capable of shielding the second operation key group; opening/closing detection means for detecting an opened/closed state of the cover part; and control means which individually controls turning on/off of the first illumination unit and the second illumination unit in accordance with the opened/closed state of the cover part detected by the opening/closing detection means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
