PURPOSE: A liquid crystal alignment agent is provided to form a short liquid crystal display device having short electric optical response time, satisfying voltage holding ration, and light resistance. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal alignment agent comprises a photo-alignment group, and a group in chemical formula A1 containing a polymer. R^A is methylene group, a C2-30 alkylene group, a phenylene group, or a cyclohexylene group, but a part or whole part of hydrogen atoms in the groups can be substituted, R^B is a linker comprising a double bond, a triple bond, an ether combination, an ester combination, and an oxygen atom, R^C is a group having at least two monocyclic structure, and a is 0 or 1.
