NOVEL USE OF TLR2

PURPOSE: A composition containing toll-like receptor 2(TLR2) is provided to suppress appetite and to reduce body weight. CONSTITUTION: A composition for diagnosing eating disorders contains a primer or probe having a complementary sequence to a nucleotide sequence of TLR2 gene. The nucleotide sequence of TLR2 gene contains a nucleotide sequence of sequence number 1. The eating disorder is obesity, sitomania, apositia, or hyperphagia. A kit for diagnosing eating disorder contains the primer or probe. A method for screening a material for preventing or treating eating disorders comprises: a step of contacting a sample to cells containing TLR2 gene or proteins; a step of measuring TLR2 gene and protein expression level or TLR2 protein activation; and a step of determining the sample is a material for preventing or treating eating disorders in case that the expression level or protein activation is reduced.
