<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device for switching and displaying two-dimensional image/three-dimensional image and a multi-view image which prevents lowering of image resolution and deterioration of image quality when displaying the two-dimensional image with a simple structure that enables reduction of cost. <P>SOLUTION: In the image display device that is light beam transmission type image display means including first illumination means 30 having a linear illuminating light generation section 31 and second illumination means 20 having a surface illuminating light generation section 21, which are arranged so as to be separated from each other with a predetermined distance therebetween in a back surface direction opposite to an observing direction of a display image relative to the image display means, the image display means 10 is illuminated from an opposite side to the observing direction by the first illumination means 30 and the second illumination means 20, displays a three-dimensional image or a multi-view image for an observer when being illuminated by the first illumination means 30, and displays a two-dimensional image for the observer when being illuminated by the second illumination means 20. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
