872,781. Oil gas. HUMPHREYS & GLASGOW Ltd. Dec. 5, 1957 [Dec. 28, 1956], No. 39505/56. Drawings to Specification. Class 55(2). In a cyclic catalytic process for making oil gas from liquid hydrocarbons a lean gas is produced in a first stage by reacting a heavy oil or tar with steam in the presence of a catalyst and the lean gas is enriched in a second stage in which a light oil is reacted with steam in a chamber free from catalytic or heat storage masses, the temperature of the lean gas being reduced before or during enrichment by admixture with steam or recycled make gas at a temperature below that of the lean gas. The two stages may be carried out in two separate reaction chambers or in different parts of a single reaction chamber. The whole or part of the steam for the second stage may be used to inject light hydrocarbons. Specification 759,785 is referred to.
|
