The system (S) has two deformation elements (D) for receiving and conversion of collision energy of a motor vehicle. A one-piece cross beam is provided with two frames (Z) extending away from two longitudinal edges of a base area (B). A flange region is connected to each frame and has a channel for enabling a frictional connection i.e. screw connection, of the deformation element and a longitudinal beam. The cross beam has two trench-shaped reinforcement structures (V) running into the base area and the frame partially and beyond production-specific necessary bending radii. The cross beam is designed as a U-profile or a hat profile in its cross-section. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a bumper system.
