<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an airbag which is inexpensively manufactured, stably and quickly developed and effectively prevents an occupant from being thrown out to the outside of a vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: A plurality of main chambers 38 are formed at the vehicle interior side of an airbag body 21 by an inside joint 37 extending to be turned in the back and forth direction. A plurality of sub-chambers 54 are formed at the vehicle exterior side of the airbag body 21 so as to be overlapped on the main chambers 38 by outside joints 52, 53 crossing the inside joint 37 along the vertical direction. A part of an inflation gas G supplied to a main chamber 38 is introduced to one of the sub-chambers 54 through a ventilation port 45. The airbag is inexpensively manufactured without being installed with a reinforcement against a pressure concentration by suppressing the peak pressure of the inflation gas G, and quickly and stably developed. Deflection or a bend generated in the main chamber 38 is absorbed by the development of the sub-chambers 54, so that the airbag stably keeps the shape and effectively prevents the occupant from being thrown out to the outside of the vehicle. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
