<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a structure for absorbing energy, which can increase an energy absorbing stroke that is caused by the crushing of an energy absorbing body. <P>SOLUTION: The structure 10 for absorbing energy includes: an energy absorbing member 34 that is formed of a fiber reinforced resin into a tubular shape and crushed by an input load from an axial direction; a plate-like base member 32 joined to an axial end positioned on a side opposite to a load input side of the energy absorbing member 34; and a discharging part 38 provided in a joined part between the energy absorbing member 34 and the base member 32.
