<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a membrane electrode assembly for a fuel cell preventing the system efficiency of the fuel cell from decreasing, and emitting only a small amount of formic acid over the long term. <P>SOLUTION: The membrane electrode assembly for a fuel cell comprises a solid polymer electrolyte membrane, an anode provided on one side of the solid polymer electrolyte membrane and containing a catalyst and a solid polymer electrolyte, a cathode provided on the other side of the solid polymer electrolyte membrane and containing a catalyst and a solid polymer electrolyte, an anode diffusion layer on the opposite side of the anode to the solid polymer electrolyte membrane, and a cathode diffusion layer on the opposite side of the cathode to the solid polymer electrolyte membrane. A formic acid oxidation electrode containing palladium and a solid polymer electrolyte is formed between the anode diffusion layer and the anode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
