摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a membrane electrode assembly for a fuel cell preventing the system efficiency of the fuel cell from decreasing, and emitting only a small amount of formic acid over the long term. <P>SOLUTION: The membrane electrode assembly for a fuel cell comprises a solid polymer electrolyte membrane, an anode provided on one side of the solid polymer electrolyte membrane and containing a catalyst and a solid polymer electrolyte, a cathode provided on the other side of the solid polymer electrolyte membrane and containing a catalyst and a solid polymer electrolyte, an anode diffusion layer on the opposite side of the anode to the solid polymer electrolyte membrane, and a cathode diffusion layer on the opposite side of the cathode to the solid polymer electrolyte membrane.
