<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for crack flaw detection of a metal body that can quickly specify a position and size of a flaw generated in a metal body, which is a measuring object, with a very simple configuration. <P>SOLUTION: In a state where an antenna 103 is set horizontally, while moving the antenna 103 in the longitudinal direction of the measuring object 102, the frequency is swept to measure the input impedance of the antenna 103. Subsequently, in a state where the antenna 103 is set vertically, the antenna 103 is moved in the longitudinal direction of the measuring object 102 in the same manner to measure the input impedance of the antenna 103. As a result, it can be estimated that a crack 102a exists at a position where the input impedance is greatly changed, and the effective vertical length of the crack 102a and the effective horizontal length thereof can be calculated from the frequency of a radio wave shown when the input impedance is greatly changed. As this system uses a radio wave, the measurement can be performed against metal piping coated with a cover of an insulator, such as vinyl chloride, without removing the cover. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
