PURPOSE: A method for controlling the shape of plant roots is provided to control the shape by regulating OsIDD10 gene expression in a plant. CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling the shape of plant roots comprises a step of transforming plant cells with recombinant expression vector containing OsIDD10(Oryza sativa Indeterminate domain) genes. The method comprises a step of suppressing the expression of OsIDD10 genes in which the plant roots coil up. A plant body having root shape which is controlled is prepared by transforming the plant with the recombinant expression vector. The plant body is a monocot plant. A composition for controlling the shape of the plant root contains OsIDD10 genes.
