<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can improve the efficiency of reprinting processing of a defective page having occurred during execution of variable printing. <P>SOLUTION: A main controller 900 included by the image forming apparatus receives a VDP job from an external computer 453, and the image data of a reusable object and a variable object corresponding to the VDP job is arranged on a page and printed. An inspection controller 1100 controls inspection of each page of an printed matter, and the main controller 900 controls the image data of the reusable object corresponding to a page, printing of which is determined defective as a result of inspection, to be stored in a cache 455.
