<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power conversion system which converts an AC voltage into an AC voltage with a small number of legs (e.g. three or less). <P>SOLUTION: The power conversion system has a configuration where unit cells are connected in cascade, and the unit cells are in full-bridge configuration. An AC voltage is input to the middle point of a cascade leg connecting the unit cells in cascade, and an AC voltage is output from the terminals at both ends of the cascade leg connecting the unit cells in cascade.
