<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To output laser light of a fundamental transverse mode while improving the output of the laser light. <P>SOLUTION: A semiconductor laser module 1 comprises: an optical amplifier 3 exciting laser light; a first waveguide 10 that couples with the optical amplifier 3 and guides the laser light excited by the optical amplifier 3; and an optical directional coupler 5 including a second waveguide 20 that selectively branches the laser light of a fundamental transverse mode from the first waveguide 10 and then guides the laser light.
