<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a defoaming device capable of shortening inspection time by smoothly carrying an article to be inspected. <P>SOLUTION: A defoaming device 1 discharges water by liquid supplying means 15 to a stage 11 having one end disposed at the same horizontal position as a first relay member 162 for transferring a 1.8 liter bottle B carried by a conveyer 161, and the other end disposed at the same horizontal position as a second relay member 172 in which the 1.8 liter bottle B leaves and is transferred, thereby forming a water layer. By moving the 1.8 liter bottle B to the water layer, ultrasonic waves from ultrasonic wave generating means 13 disposed in an inside layer 142 of a water tank 14 are added.
