<p>The present invention provides a soft demodulation method and apparatus for a multiple quadrature amplitude modulation (M-QAM) system. The method includes the following steps: the data to be demodulated from outside is received as received data; the operation modes of a first low-order QAM demodulation unit and a second low-order QAM demodulation unit are set according to inputted modulation mode; soft modulation is performed on the received data by the soft demodulation circuits corresponding to the first low-order QAM demodulation unit and the second low-order QAM demodulation unit. Compared with the M-QAM system of the prior art, the present invention does not need to design individual hardware resources for each kind of high-order QAM demodulation. The present invention reduces the hardware cost through the reuse of the hardware resources, and supports various QAM modulations in order to enhance the expansibility of the system.</p> |
