摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a luminescent material for a scintillator, which has an extremely short fluorescence lifetime of subnanoseconds, and to provide a scintillator, a radiation detector and a radiation inspection apparatus using the luminescent material. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided the luminescent material for a scintillator represented by chemical formula: (R<SB POS="POST">1-x</SB>Yb<SB POS="POST">x</SB>)<SB POS="POST">2</SB>O<SB POS="POST">3</SB>(wherein R is at least one element selected from rare earth elements consisting of Sc, Y and lanthanoid; and 0<x<0.1). The luminescent material for a scintillator generates fluorescence having an emission peak wavelength in the wavelength range of about 300-600 nm by exposure to radiation, has less absorption in the wavelength range of 300-530 nm which corresponds to the emission peak wavelength, and is transparent. The luminescent material for a scintillator comprises polycrystalline or monocrystalline. The scintillator is composed of the above luminescent material. A radiation detector 10 comprises a scintillator 13, and a light-receiving element 14 which receives fluorescence from the scintillator 13. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
