<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automobile meter which can obtain an innovative outer shape by setting an arrangement shape of a scale or an outer shape of a dial to be an optional shape except a circle or a semicircle, and expresses an innovative meter design in which a pointer is not exposed, by completely hiding a pointer member during non-measuring time. <P>SOLUTION: An automobile meter comprises a band-shaped dial 10 in which a scale 11 is added on a band-shaped area 13 extending in a linear shape 12; a pointer member 20 for indicating the scale 11 on the band-shaped dial 10; a guide rail 30 for guiding the pointer member 20 so as to move from a standby position P2 on the outside of a start end of the scale 11 to a terminal end of the scale 11; a pointer driving device 40 for moving the pointer member 20 on the guide rail 30 to a position on the scale 11 according to measurement data; and a pointer storage cover 50 for covering and hiding the pointer member 20 moved to the standby position P2.
