<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an artificial leather which not only has high strength and excellent stability in shape but also has a novel pattern closely resemble to natural grain shape including random recesses and protrusions on a surface layer of the artificial leather. <P>SOLUTION: The artificial leather has a sheet substrate which has piloerection on a surface of a nonwoven fabric in which a nonwoven fabric including ultrafine fibers and a woven fabric are entangled and integrated, and a polymer elastomer provided on the sheet substrate as a binder. A plurality of protrusion parts which are separated by recess parts are formed on the piloerection side of the surface layer part of the nonwoven fabric in a size having a height difference of 70 μm or more and 500 μm or less and a width of 200 μm or more and 2000 μm or less.
